Remember when some folks brought a big ass set of bleachers to the playa and set them up on the Esplanade with a huge sign above it reading SPECTATOR CAMP. No, before your time? It was peak hilarity! The act of sitting on the bleachers to observe the spectacle of Burning Man was in itself an act of participation. The bleachers were, if I may, a critique of both the spectator and of radical participation. Bonus points you could heckle passers by, a lovely past time, or simply set a spell, but you'd likely encounter other people, exchange pleasantries, and make new friends. Fun fact, it wasn't until a thousand years later that I met one of the people responsible for the bleachers, we're now campmates and besties.
In creating this badge from an emoji, I was thinking someone might receive this with sarcasm, like they've been all in since the day they learned their ticket req went through, earned a ticket through directed ticket sales to support artwork or a big theme camp, or finally learned their conclave earned a spot this year. At no point did I think you'd give this to an actual spectator, but hey, you do you.
One of the 10 Principles of Burning Man is, summarized succinctly, if not only slightly correctly as, NO SPECTATORS, the community is "committed to a radically participatory ethic", and this is how the whole thing transmogrifies from this big difficult thing you attend, to this life changing difficult thing you DO with others to create awesomeness. Participation is a standard code of conduct, a moral obligation if you will. Sure there is staff operations behind a magic curtain to ensure the infrastructure is in place, many of them are volunteers participating in creating the space for your magic to happen.

Everything in my shop is handmade to order by li'l ol' me in my home studio in Southern Oregon. There are some things that are easier to make in groups of 2 or more, so when someone orders one, I'll have leftovers giving me a small ready inventory, (the Burner De/Merit Badges for example). My shipping times have production times built in, however if I have it on hand, I'll ship asap. I don't actually have piles of inventory in stock =) the quantity available in each listing is there to give you an opportunity to order as many as you want.

Photos for Custom Kitters
Once you've placed your order, please send photos of the critter in question. Etsy lets us send three images per message.
I will send an email with instructions and some questions for what I need from you.
Please not that the shop observes weekends, I'll communicate with you Monday through Friday, if you place an order on Saturday, don't fret, I will be in touch when I get back to the shop.
What's the Best Material For Your Critter?
What's the best material for your critter?
If your kitty long or medium haired, choose the FUR option.
If your kitty is a sort hair, please choose FLEECE.
If your kitty is short haired and you order fur, I will use MINKY.
Once you've sent pictures I'll either pull materials from my stash, or shop for just the right thing for your special order. I will communicate with you along the way to ensure you're getting something lovely and as you expected.
I have an idea for a patch, how do I make that happen?
Using the contact form, send me a message with your ideas, size, colors, font thoughts, and how many you want. Let me know if you want it to be exclusive to you, or if it's cool to put in the shop as a new listing? This effects the price some.
Can you make this bigger or smaller, in a different color?
Heck yeah I can. If it's just color changes, let me know in the comments at check out.
If it's a size change, there may also be a price change, and I'll want to have a convo with you about it first. Go to the listing you'd like to have resized, and send me a message from that listing with your request. Once we get the details worked out I'll make a custom listing for you.
Will you replicate someone elses patch for less?
No.
Where do you get designs?
Some of the patches in my shop are designed by an embroidery digitizer, (that's a skill in itself), I've purchased the design (often from other Etsy sellers) and have rights to create them. Other designs are digitized from the ground up by me, I've been learning to digitize since late 2021, and I have a lot to learn yet. I will also purchase embroidery files of specific elements to make compositions to save time, or because the other digitizer has more skill and experience than I do in with that kind of work.
